LIVING MISSIONALLY: Kids Hope Mentorship Program about to begin at NHCC!

Kids Hope USA (www.kidshopeusa.org) builds life-changing relationships one at a time: One Child. One Hour. One School. One Church.

Over two decades ago, Dr. Virgil Gulker researched a question that led to Kids Hope USA’s launch: How can churches have the greatest impact on America’s at-risk children?

Kids Hope USA has come to Wausau, Wisconsin!  One Child. One Hour. One School (Hewitt-Texas Elementary School). One Church (New Hope Community).

New Hope Community Church eagerly anticipates the kick-off of Kids Hope USA right here in Wausau.  Being the first in our area, we can’t wait to see the positive results from this mentorship program.  Our trained mentors are carefully partnered with at-risk children at one local school.  And, how amazing would it be to see Kids Hope grow as  other area congregations partner with more schools and change the lives of children from across our community in a positive way!  One Church – One School – One Child – One Hour – at a time.

Last Spring, New Hope embarked on a prayerful journey, and sought God’s direction in how we as a congregation might become more missional to the community around us.  Renee’ Jelsma, New Hope’s Director of Renewal and Missional Living was familiar with the Kids Hope program which is widely utilized in her home state of Michigan.  After months of planning, Donna DeKoning was trained and became co-director with Renee’ and the implementation process began.

We are excited to announce that Kids Hope USA will begin its partnership with Hewitt-Texas Elementary School, Wausau, within the next few weeks.  A big shout out to principal Phil Beck who assisted in referring students, and our trained mentors are currently being matched.

If you would like to know more about Kids Hope USA and how it can make a positive influence in the life of one child at a time, call Renee’ at 715-845-8541.

NEW HOPE JOINS WORK OF REVIVE WISCONSIN!

New Hope Community Church is partnering with approximately 30 other central Wisconsin churches to bring the good news of Jesus Christ and spiritual revival to our community!  Revive outreach will take place the week of Aug. 13-19, 2017.  Much prayer, planning and preparation has already been committed to bring this about in our area and we are excited to see the mighty work God will do through these faithful efforts.

YOU can be a part of Revive in a variety of ways.  Noon lunches are hosted by area churches for the Revive daily participants.  New Hope is honored to host the THURSDAY, AUG. 17 lunch.  Help is needed by providing food, cooking, serving and clean-up.  Anyone interested in assisting in any way should sign the sheet in the narthex or talk to Pastor Dan.

YOU can also be a part by opening your home to house some of the Revive team (which come from many different places throughout the country).  They generally stay in homes during the week and rely on churches to help with this. If you have the gift of hospitality or even just a spare room, please sign the sheet in the narthex or talk to Pastor Dan.

YOU can be a part by participating in the worship gatherings as we reach out to God for His leading and direction. The community is invited to a pre-event worship event on TUESDAY EVENING, AUG 1, 7:00 PM at Christian Assembly, Grand Avenue, Wausau.  Then, get ready for the KICK-OFF WORSHIP EVENT on SUNDAY EVENING, AUG. 13, 6:00 PM at Highland Community Church, 28th Avenue, Wausau.

YOU can participate in as little or as much of the daily outreach activities as your schedule allows throughout the week Aug. 14-19.  Daily schedules are on the narthex table or online at www.revivewisconsin.org

ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED to help bring spiritual revival to our area, see Pastor Dan or call 715-845-8541.  We are excited to see what God is up to!!

BREAKING DOWN THE WALLS – Sermon series and prayer walk

NEW HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH will embark on a journey toward God’s emerging future for us as a church and how we can reach out in Christ’s love to the community around us beginning Sunday, April 23rd.

April 23 – Pastor Dan will begin a new sermon series entitled “Breaking Down the Walls” to help us discover our current reality and God’s emerging future for New Hope.  We will pray for walls and obstacles that exist that might prevent us from reaching out to what’s beyond our property lines.  We will ask “Lord, what do YOU have for us as a congregation to do?”  “Who do YOU want us to reach between our church, our neighbors, to Wausau and beyond?”  At the conclusion of the Sunday service, the congregation will begin our prayer walk – one of four ways, as you are physically able – 1)  outside around the perimeter of the church property, 2) outside around the building, 3) inside throughout the building, and 4) from your seat in the sanctuary. Prayer handouts will be provided to guide prayer walkers.  We will end the prayer walk this Sunday with a short time of reflection and discussion in Fellowship Hall concluding at 11:50 AM.  The congregation will be given Current Reality Feedback Sheets to be returned the following week.  Prayer walking will continue each day of the week until the next Sunday, April 30.

Daily devotions will be provided for the congregation’s use at home during the week.

April 30 – Pastor Dan will continue the series on “Breaking Down the Walls” with a message on unity.  Ridder Reflections – a time of teaching, sharing and discussion will take place during the Sunday school time from 11 – 11:50 AM.  The congregation is asked to return their Current Reality Feedback Sheets on April 30.  The congregation will be asked to “see” our community through God’s eyes throughout the coming week.  Take a different route to work, or the store or other places you visit.  Perhaps just take a drive through our community and “see” its needs from a different perspective.  Note the “needs of our community” that God reveals to you.

Daily devotions will be provided for the congregation’s use at home during the week.

May 7 – Pastor Dan will continue the series on “Breaking Down the Walls” with a message on mission/missional living.  Ridder Reflections – a time of teaching, sharing, discussion and brainstorming will take place from 11 – 11:50 AM.  A current reality of NHCC will be shared with results of the Current Reality Feedback Sheets which the congregation turned in last week.  We will begin to brainstorm together what God is beginning to reveal as our emerging future at NHCC.
