Deacons

Michael Bushar

Michael and his wife, Amanda, of 4 and a half years, have two kids (Charlie - almost 2 and Emmett - born March 2026). He works in supply chain at Wausau Supply Company. Michael is one of the new deacons at New Hope and enjoys the opportunity to serve the church. His favorite free time activities are pretty much anything outdoors, especially deer hunting in the fall. He also enjoys watching his favorite sports teams.

Eugene Geurink

Eugene and his wife, Jackie, have three sons and seven grandchildren. Eugene enjoys serving in any way he can be of service to the Lord. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, curling and spending time in the woods.

Terry Merriam

Terry is married to Carol. They have two daughters who both live in Weston with their husbands and children. We have 5 grandchildren—Jaxson, Cameron, Avery, Sydney and Lennon. Terry and Carol are retired from family dairy farming. After selling their herd, Terry worked for the DC Everest School System as a custodian. It was a great retirement job as he got to see his grandkids.

Being a deacon allows Terry to contribute to the church by helping keep the building in working order, as well as getting to know the financial responsibilities of the church.

Terry's been involved with Ruby’s Pantry. He and Carol volunteer at the Humane Society of Marathon Co. They travel  quite a bit, with Carol planning where they're off to next. The Greenheck Field House gives the opportunity to keep up on their walking when weather doesn’t permit.

Phil Sturm

Phil is a teacher in the D.C. Everest School District. He and his wife, Mary, have three children. As one of the five deacons at New Hope, he finds the service portion of ministry to be very rewarding. He enjoys the feeling of accomplishment that comes when tasks are completed. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and golf. He also spends much of his free time chasing his kids around the area as a spectator/coach for their hobbies.
