Elders

Joel DeKoning

Joel and his wife Donna moved to Wausau from Michigan in 1975. They have served at New Hope for 45+ years. Joel has been an elder on and off during all those years. Most recently, he helped the other elders lead the church from the Reformed Church in America (RCA) to the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). In his spare time, he enjoys watching and participating in sports and interacting with his nine grandchildren.

Kelvin Fraaza

Kel grew up in the Wausau community and is married to Barb, New Hope’s Christian Education Director. Kel has a heart for serving the flock and enjoys using his God given gifts and abilities. Outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and camping with his family are an important part of his free time.

Dave Harrison

Dave and his wife, Pat, have two married adult daughters and he is a former English teacher and retired pastor. He enjoys gardening, biking, reading, snowshoeing, fishing, camping, and watching Packer and Badger games. Dave has a passion to see people grow in discipleship through the knowledge of God’s Word. He's excited to see New Hope grow and make a difference in the community.

Bob Petts

Bob and his wife, Liz, have three adult children and three grandchildren. Bob is retired from the Federal Government and he and Liz run two small businesses - he's an auctioneer and also operates a coin and hobby store. Bob has served as a Sunday School teacher for adults, youth and children, as well as church treasurer. He enjoys chess, fishing and travel.

Ron Ten Haken

Ron and his wife Terri have three adult married children and 10 grandchildren. Ron is retired from the US Air Force, and semi-retired from an engineering company. He’s also currently a member of the Hatley Fire and Ambulance service, and on the Board of Directors at Banner Banks. God instilled in Ron a passion to serve at a very young age, and that fire continues to burn within him - especially to be used of God in the service of the people of His church. Ron and Terri enjoy hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, UTV riding, card playing and essentially anything outdoors.
