Elders

Jeff Kleeberger

Jeff and his wife, (fairly) recent transplants to the Wausau area, have been tremendously blessed to be part of New Hope. Over the past couple of years, he’s had the privilege of serving the church by means of teaching the adult equipping/discipleship class.

Outside of the church, he works for a marketing company specializing in business-to-business solutions. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, reading, and traveling.

Jake McKelvy

Jake and his wife Abby have three daughters and have lived in Wausau since 2024. Upon the first visit to New Hope Community Church they knew the Lord had provided a community for their family to serve and grow together in grace and faith.

Jake is grateful to serve the church as as Elder and to encourage others in the good news of the Gospel of Jesus. Jake to serves on the Safety team and hosts a small group at their home.

Jake works as a Healthcare Administrator, enjoys running, adventuring with his family, and cheering on the Florida Gators.

Tom Stefonik

Tom’s heart is filled with love for the Lord, love for his family and a love for music. Tom and his wife, Sue, have been blessed with a blended family of five adult children and ten grandchildren. Tom’s passion has always been for playing music and singing praises to the LORD with the hope that those who are listening will be moved by the power of the Holy Spirit to feel the presence of God in their hearts. Besides his dedication to God and commitment to New Hope Community Church, he is a car nut, a technology nerd, a guitar picker and is striving to be a world-class grandpa. He also enjoys traveling and camping.

Scott Welge

Scott is a native of South Dakota and grew up (and still is) a fan of Minnesota sports teams. This makes for some interesting conversations in Wisconsin! He met his wife at a church game night in the Twin Cities. They have two boys at home. The Welges enjoy good food, good conversation, and good humor.

Scott is grateful to be able to serve New Hope with his gifts and time as an elder; he also serves as our worship coordinator and custodian. His passion is to see Christ’s people encouraged and built up. His prayer is that God would stir us up to love each other and the world around us as God has so graciously loved us in His Son Jesus.

Scott enjoys reading, hiking, talking theology, and listening to music.
