Pastor Alex came to New Hope in February 2025 from northern Utah, where he served as a solo pastor for six years. Before that, he ministered in West Virginia, Missouri, and the Carolinas. He grew up in the Midlands of South Carolina, where he came to the true faith in middle school out of a background in Unitarianism.
Alex is married to Holly, who he met while they both attended Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri (M.Div., 2010). They have two children, and delight to see their wide-ranging interests cultivated. Before seminary, Alex spent seven years getting his four-year-degree from the College of Charleston (South Carolina), where he majored in English, focusing on Old English and the historical development of the English language as much as possible. Don’t ask him about Tolkien unless you have a while to chat!
After more than a decade in ordained ministry, Alex has learned that he is most energized to see the Spirit at work, bringing people to engage with God and His word in a fresh way. As such, he is thrilled to be able to focus his attention on New Hope’s discipleship ministries. He would love to hear how the Lord has been at work in your life over coffee or a meal!
